Whether dad is an outdoorsy kind of guy, a thrill seeker, foodie, or just likes to get his aaarrgh on we found a bunch of activities that feed into all of dad’s favorite guy things. They are great for families, so everyone can celebrate all of the things that make dad awesome.
West Point Inn Pancake Breakfast
Forget breakfast in bed! It’s always cold anyway.  Instead lead dad on a hike up beautifully scenic Mt. Tam and serve up some pancakes hot off the griddle!  Satisfy your hearty, well earned appetites with The West Point Inn’s legendary Pancake Breakfast. Bay Area insiders love the challenge of the hike and the spectacular bay views. The Pirate Festival in Vallejo
Dad may be a captain of industry all week long, but on Father’s Day he can become a Pirate! The Pirate Festival in Vallejo allows you and dad to have a swashbucklin’ good time.  Find the Vallejo waterfront magically transformed into Pirate Town filled with merriment including musicians, singers, swordfighters, jugglers, craftspeople and of course, pirates. Of course there will be appearances from Captain Jack…. in the form of Spareribs that is.. Aaaarrgh!  June 15th and 16th, the Vallejo Waterfront, a few steps west of the Vallejo Ferry Terminal, $10.

Bike About at the Zoo
Wouldn’t Dad love to Bike past the tigers on his big day?! Bring Dad and your bikes to the zoo before the gates open up to the public and follow a docent-led tour of the park while cruising around on two wheels. Watch the animals chow down on their morning meals. Then it’s your turn to feast. After your zoo tour, head down to the beach or into Golden Gate Park for a family picnic. The 59th Annual North Beach Festival
How better to show dad you love him than through his stomach. Dad can eat and drink his content at San Francisco’s Little Italy at the annual North Beach Festival.  This year’s event  will feature over 100 arts and crafts booths, 20 gourmet food booths, live entertainment, Italian street painting, beverage gardens, local non-profit organizations.  Plan for fun and a crowd with pretty much the same idea.  June 15th and 16th, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm, Columbus Avenue in North Beach, San Francisco,  Free.

Dads and Jazz
Make this Father’s Day celebration a class affair with a swanky jazz concert. The historic Dunsmuir-Hellman estate, in the East Bay, invites you and dad to enjoy some smooth jazz on their beautiful grounds surrounding the mansion.  After the concert, plan to tour the mansion and check out the rest of the estate. No need for lawn chairs and snacks. Seating will be provided and they’ll have food and drinks for sale. June 16, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Dunsmuir-Hellman Historic Estate, Oakland. $20 adults, $10 kids (12 & under).
Be a Science Geek with Dad
Is dad a self proclaimed geek? Then he will love spending a day of supreme geekdom surrounded by science and engineering fanatics at the Lawrence Hall of Science. Both of you will tap into your inventive side and create something in the Design Quest exhibit. visit tons of hands-on interaction stations, see everything from animal encounters to space exploration and of course feed you wild sides watching the Great White Shark – 3D .
