Spring Cleaning – Au Natural

I’ve been gearing up for spring cleaning… seriously I have been! But this time I’m thinking about going all natural.  I want to know if green is as good as chemically created, toxic, environmentally damaging, expensive, skin irritating but albeit quite effective and fresh smelling household cleaning products. I’m going to take a stab at making my own natural cleaning products and test it out in my home.

If you’re Interested in going the non-chemical cleaning route too? Check out these:

5 simple recipes below for natural cleaning products!

1. All Purpose Cleanerlemmons in a bottle

2 cups Water
1 cup Hydrogen Peroxide
¼ cup Lemon Juice

Mix in a spray bottle (bonus points if you re-use a spray bottle) and adjust proportions to suit your needs.

2. Scouring Powdernon toxic

1 cup baking soda
1 cup borax (found in laundry aisle at the grocery store)
1 cup salt

Combine ingredients in a jar.
Sprinkle on area to be cleaned. Scrub and rinse.

———————

3. Glass Cleaner

1 cup vinegar
3 cups water

Combine water and vinegar in a spray bottle.
Use to clean glass or mirrors with a dry lint-free cloth or piece of newspaper.

———————

4. Toilet Bowl Cleanergreen bottle

1/4 cup borax or baking soda
1 cup vinegar

Mix ingredients in toilet bowl. Let it sit for 15 minutes (or longer, if necessary). Scrub, then flush.

5. Grease Cleaner (for stove etc.)

Undiluted vinegar in spray bottle
(or dilute vinegar with water using 1:1 ratio in spray bottle)

Spray and wipe. For heavier grease, let vinegar sit for a few minutes, or use undiluted vinegar. If all else fails, a surprising fact is that grease removes grease. So, a natural vegetable oil on a paper towel can remove a difficult greasy stain on an appliance. Follow with vinegar for that sparkly clean finish!

I’m, naturally excited to see how it goes!  We would love to hear about your results too!  Please let us know here or comment on our Facebook Page.
