We all know Ikea is a good go to place for inexpensive goodies and such, but don’t you ever just want more? Maybe you have design in mind that you don’t see at Ikea or maybe there’s a better way you can utilize what you already have. Trolling the interwebs I’ve come across a website that does just that called “Ikea Hackers”. I’m guess you get what it is from the name.. a whole entire website dedicated to hacking Ikea furniture.  Check out some cool projects below for some great ideas.

Bed Bridge Bookcase from IKEA BRIMNES + BILLY

IKEA items used:

  • BRIMNES bookcase x 2
  • BILLY bookcase

Teddy Cubby and Reading Corner

Ikea item used :

Kallax 4 x 2 cube and Ikea Spice Racks

Assemble 4 x 2 Kallax and lay flat. Go to hardware store and purchase 6mm MDF (they cut it to my measurements) Fill with desired kids toys. Place wood on top, quilt for padding and throw rug tucking in edges. Paint spice racks desired colour and have handy hubby hang them. Taadaa!

  • 23 5/8 x 7 7/8 x 25 1/4 ” – Two

Automated IKEA PS 2014 Pendant Lamp

Parts used:

  • IKEA PS 2014 Pendant Lamp
  • IR Remote Control
  • Arduino Nano micro-controller
  • 7V DC Motor with driver
  • Position sensor (high precision potentiometer)
  • Other bits and bobs
